EBEC Novi Sad – Novi Sad days of engineers

EBEC Novi Sad - December 2018.

“EBEC Novi Sad – Novi Sad days of engineers” is a project for engineering students who want to improve, both themselves and their engineering and presentation skills. The competition consists of two categories: Team Design and Case Study. The project besides the competition in two categories includes workshops on various topics. The competition is held from 7 – 9.12.2018. and the applications for participants will be opened from 15.11.2018.

What is EBEC?

EBEC (European BEST Engineering Competition) is one of the fastest growing projects in our organisation. Within this engineering competition teams of four participants are competing against each other in resolving the actual problems of the company (Case Study) or in solving tasks within a limited time and a limited availability of materials (Team Design). The competition consists of three rounds: local, regional and final. The winners of each round continue to compete in the next round. This year, the regional round is being held in Novi Sad, of what we are very proud and local rounds winners will have the chance to, if they repeat the triumph in regional round, shine in the European finals in a magical Turin!

Creativity

“Creativity is inventing, experimenting, growing, taking risks, breaking rules, making mistakes and having fun.”

 Mary Lou Cook

Design

“Thinking about design is hard, but not thinking about it can be disastrous. ”

 Ralph Caplan

Imagination

“Imagination is more important than knowledge. Knowledge is limited. Imagination encircles the world.”

Albert Einstein

Team Design

Team Design represents one of the most creative type of competing as students are solving some practical problems. The teams will get a task that can be linked to some life problem or company problem and they will create a prototype solution for the given problem. Teams will have a limited amount of simple objects and materials to use in the building process.

After teams are acquainted with their tasks, they have two to three hours for concept development, prototype production and preparation of the presentation. At the end of presentation of the team’s concepts, the winning team determines judges based on the concept, implementation, presentation and the efficiency of prototypes.

By doing this students have a chance to showcase their knowledge, creativity, teamwork as well as many other skills that can be attributed to a young engineer.

Case Study

Case Study enables students to improve their skills by competing in solving theoretical problems and presenting their solution by using their previous experience and acquired knowledge. The teams are getting a task that represents some real question related to the company’s real problem. The competition in this category is designed so that the company or organizers show the problem to students who, then, have two to three hours to work on the problem and invent the best possible solution. In the end, all teams will present their ideas to other attendees and judges (usually composed of members of the company or university professors), after which they will be judged by judges based on the innovative idea, development and exposure.

Workshops

Students of all the professions from University of Novi Sad will have the opportunity to understand how continuous learning and education, or self-development, is the key to the success of every individual so they could be ready in college and later on job for teamwork and life.

Look at the workshops we’ve prepared for you:

  • “Mentoring in a heart: A future  in employment” Continental
  • “Building a team is not easy, but we will show you how” Milana Šarac and Novak Stanišić (Infopolis)
  • “Communication and skills needed for quality communication” Milana Šarac and Novak Stanišić (Infopolis)
  • “How to stay mentally healthy in modern age” Tatjana Atanasković and Radojka Jevtić (Ubuntu)
